Number of YouTube Users Worldwide
Number of YouTube Users Worldwide

So here is a list of the top most viewed YouTube videos that have received the maximum amount of views up until 2021.

1. Baby Shark Dance – Pinkfong Kids Sings & Stories – Highest Viewed Video on YouTube

This is one song you won’t be able to get out of your head. There is nothing difficult about Baby Shark Dance, which was created by Korean pop company Pinkfong.

That’s basically all it has: sharks on repeat. It went on to become the most-viewed youtube video on this list, but this song’s influence can be seen in other videos, including some that have gotten hundreds of thousands of views.

To be quite honest, the popularity of Baby Shark Dance wasn’t all that unexpected. The lyrics and tune of the song are really catchy. In my opinion, it’s safe to say that Baby Shark’s reign as the most watched video of all time will continue.

2 Luis Fonsi – Despacito ft.Daddy Yankee – The Most Viewed Song on YouTube

“Despacito” featuring Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee charted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 97 days, and it garnered over a billion views in little under a year.

Averaging up, the video racked up a total of 2 billion views in 24 hours, making it the quickest to collect 2 billion views and the first to reach 4 billion, 5 billion, 6 billion, and now 7 billion views.

3 Johny Johny Yes Papa – LooLoo Kids

This video has a mischievous baby and his Papa as the main characters in this short, animated music video. In the song, the infant can be seen attempting to consume sugar cubes even though his father disapproves.

Do you think the child will receive the sugar? To be honest, you’ll just have to wait and see. On the contrary, the song itself is really very enjoyable – it’s short and simple. Considering that it has been viewed/listened to over 5 billion times, it’s a great thing.

4 Ed Sheeran – Shape of You – most viewed music video on youtube

Even if you have not seen the video , you definitely must have heard about it. It holds the records for being the third-fastest video to achieve a billion views, and it also ranks second when it comes to videos that reached 2 billion and 3 billion views.

Within two years, Shape of You racked up all of its view count awards, debuting in January 2017.

5 Wiz Khalifa – See you Again ft Charlie Puth – One of top viewed youtube videos

See You Again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth is the first video on this list to have a movie tie-in, which is why it is shown in theatres before being released on the internet.

It was unveiled in April of 2015 and has attracted 5 billion views to date. It is in honour of Paul Walker, who starred in The Fast and the Furious films. He died in 2013.

This video has replaced Gangnam Style as the most watched video on YouTube from July 10 to August 4, 2017. That reign was brief, as it was overtaken by Despacito a few years later.

In November of 2016, See You Again reached the 2 billion view mark, making it the second video to do so, and it is one of just 10 videos watched more than 4 billion times.

6 Masha and The Bear – Recipe for disaster (Episode 17) – One of The most viewed YouTube Channels

An example of this Russian animated television programme for youngsters, Masha and the Bear, is “Recipe for Disaster.” The programme is popular both in its nation of origin and throughout the globe. Many episodes have massive views on YouTube. It is in an series on Netflix, too.

Although there were over a million views of the Recipe for Disaster episode, it is of special importance because of this. It is one of just 10 videos that have been seen 4 billion times.

Watch the episodes of the channel, Recipe for Disaster, posted by the movie maker, and you’ll see how many people watched only from one particular episode.

7 Bath Song -Cocomelon-Nursery Rhymes – One of the highest viewed song on YouTube

It has happened over the course of a few years, but instructional films for children are gradually making it into the top 10 most watched YouTube videos of all time.

On the other hand, our number 7 pick, Cocomelon’s Bath Song, has knocked Gangnam Style down to No. 10 on our list.

It’s strange how we find it so surprising. It’s simply a little song about bath time, just under three minutes in length, and with a chorus similar to the Baby Shark Dance.

8 Learning Colors- Colourful Eggs on a Farm – One of The Most Viewed YouTube Animated Video

If kids are going to be gazing at screens for a significant part of the day, then it’s logical that the programmes parents choose for their kids should be free to access, and instructive.

There are a lot of excellent shows like this on Miroshka TV: Learning Colors Multi-Colored Eggs on the Farm.

It’s a film designed to educate youngsters, which has garnered over 4 billion views after being posted for the first time in three years.

The video is five minutes long and provides an explanation of colours via eggs on a farm that are crudely animated.

It has a narration in Russian and teaches Russian-speaking youngsters the names of various colours.

Every other piece of the video is done in Russian, apart from the background music (which is performed in English as “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”) and any subtitles that occur.

The film is slower paced and has certain sequences that go on for a while, but the humorous and goofy moments will make younger viewers laugh.

9 Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars – One of Most viewed YouTube Video in 24 hours

While the top three videos on this list are all much newer, Uptown Funk still pulls in views as a possible chart-topper. Ronson’s video debuted on YouTube in November 2014 and quickly gained popularity.

Worthy of comparison to the views it receives is the fact that it also defeated tough competition from its contemporaries.

For example, global successes such as Katy Perry’s “Roar” saw billions of views because of making big-budget music videos for them. Uptown Funk remains unmatched.

10 PSY-Gangnam Style – One Of The Highest Viewed Videos on YouTube India

Psy’s Gangnam Style was the YouTube video that set the all-time record for views, as it was watched more than a billion times.

As well, it accomplished this objective in under six months following its debut, taking place from July to December 2012.

That video became the first to achieve 2 billion number of views in May 2014, and it wasn’t until later that year that another video reached that milestone.

Gangnam Style is one of the most viewed videos on YouTube. Over the last nine years, the company has held onto its top 10 ranking against new competitors.

11 Marron 5 – Sugar – One of top viewed youtube videos

Sugar was used in Maroon 5’s fifth studio album, V. It was made available on January 13, 2015, as a single. The song reached at #2 on the US Billboard 100.

David Dobkin, who has directed music videos for such artists as Backstreet Boys, helped the band make their video. He drew upon his experience directing the movie “Wedding Crashers” for this piece.

Maroon 5’s video features the band crashing many weddings throughout Los Angeles. This is not a performance.

The weddings featured in the Maroon 5 music video have all been crashed.

Reality is that each groom was given prior notice and was aware of the possibility of having a renowned band perform at their wedding, but other individuals involved in the weddings were unaware of the details.

Forget the way in which the brides found out about Adam Levine serenading them during their weddings: it must have been a delight to them.

The video premiered on October 23, 2015. In addition to being number one in Canada for seven weeks, the song topped the charts in 13 other nations, seven of which were weeks at the top in Bieber’s home country. Last year, over 11 million copies of the song were sold globally.

13 Katy Perry -Roar – It is always in the top 50 most viewed youtube videos

For anybody who hasn’t seen the Katy Perry video for “Roar,” she is in the jungle and the animals there have been turned crazy.

She unveiled Roar as the first single from her 2013 album “Prism”, which was self-titled. In the song, the lyrics discuss standing up for yourself and empowering yourself. It was a resounding success.

The video recounts a fictitious tale of Katy Perry surviving an aircraft accident and adjusting to life in the jungle. Tamed a tiger, she even does.

The music video features the band performing the song in a gloomy ground floor of a building, with hanging light bulbs as its only lighting source, while the scenes above include religious revival services, in which members of the congregation and other people are dancing and singing along with the music.

A member of the military falls through the floor, then comes through the ceiling during the music as the video ends.

To date, the video has become the first music video to receive 1 billion views by a group.

The classic editor plugin will be available till 2021, December 31. So if you have not familiarized yourself with Gutenberg, you must start NOW.

Let’s understand Gutenberg – and see how it can help us use WordPress more efficiently.

Gutenberg meaning- Explained

Gutenberg is a brand new text editor for the WordPress platform. It was a part of WordPress 5.0, which launched on November 27, 2018. The primary motive of Gutenberg is to simplify page building on WordPress.

Project Gutenberg in WordPress

Gutenberg aims to make website editing better and faster- and in the long run, make your website perform better.

Gutenberg is stage one of a three rollout strategy.

  • First, WordPress gets a redeveloped block editor.
  • Second, the project will concentrate on page templates
  • In the final stage, WordPress becomes a full suite customizer

It goes without saying that from Gutenberg, you can customize your site and explore endless publishing and optimizing possibilities. Gutenberg has the potential to keep WordPress ranking as the top editor in the coming years.

Experiencing Gutenberg Blocks – Latest Update

The Gutenberg is a block editor that has transformed the editing experience in WordPress. The block editor has a modular approach to pages and posts. Every piece of content in the editor, from an image gallery to a paragraph, has its own editing block.

The goal of Gutenberg is to make the experience of designing and publishing more intuitive and customizable in a simplistic manner. With its ease to the editors, we can say that it’s here to stay in the long run. So before the classic editor calls it quits by December 2021, adapt to Gutenberg.

All the elements are blocks on Gutenberg

The new WordPress editor is all about blocks. Before, the content lived inside the big HTML file, and for every enhancement, there was something new like shortcodes, embeds, widgets, custom posts, or page types. Now, you can build your content just like a LEGO set: all from one box, following a standardized and straightforward set of instructions.

Paragraph, Heading, Image, And all the elements in separate zones!

With the help of block contents, you can determine what every part of your content is. Not only this, you can define their specifications per block. So, for instance, you can turn single-line text into a quote, its placement, text-decoration, etc. This goes for all the blocks-

  • Quotes
  • Paragraph
  • Code
  • Columns
  • Ton of embeds
  • Shortcodes
  • Lists

It’s much easier to increase the conversion rate for products or services if you know what keywords to use.

There are plenty of keywords as well as keyword research tools, all showing different results. All of this can be overwhelming, and therefore I will explain types of keywords so that you get a direction to walk on!

Types of Keywords in SEO

I will tell you about the 9 types of keywords in SEO writing you must know if you are a blogger.

Let’s begin with the first one; a short tail keyword.

1. Short-tail keyword- hardest to rank among all types of keywords

Short-tail keyword- hardest to rank among all types of keywords
Short-tail keyword- hardest to rank among all types of keywords

A keyword is nothing but a small sequence of words. Any sequence made up of three words or less is known as the short-tail keywords. These are also called the head keywords.

These are all over the place, not really user-targeted, and it is hard to find their intent. For instance, search terms Like ‘Lemon’ don’t have a specific intent. We can’t really tell if someone is searching for the vitamins present in lemon or how it helps with weight loss! These don’t convert well and also don’t necessarily target the specific audience you might be looking for.

Features of Short-tail keywords

  • Highly competitive and not so easy to rank
  • High search volume
  • High competitive
  • Broad search intent
  • Lesser conversion rate

It should only be used as a theme keyword on your website. This tells Google the overall theme of your website, which can positively impact your SEO strategy.

2. Long-tail keyword- best in SEO keyword types

Rank faster with long-tail keywords
Rank faster with long-tail keywords

Any keyword with more than three-word sequences is a long-tail keyword. These are highly specific and have lower search volume than a short tail keyword. Because they are long, these are target-specific and have much better user intent.

Rank faster with long-tail keywords

You can pinpoint the search intent easily, for instance-: “tool to extract competitive analysis”, where the user wants to search for nothing other than a tool to extract competitive analysis.

You can easily write a blog that answers this query and give the user exactly what he wants to know. That’s the benefit of long-tail keywords- that they are very detailed and satisfy their users.

Features of Long Tail keywords-

  • Low, competitive rate
  • Low search volume
  • Easier to rank
  • High conversion rate
  • Best for a blog post and project pages

3. Short-term fresh keyword- best types of keywords in SEO for latest trends

Short-term fresh keyword
Short-term fresh keyword

Even though the name is familiar, these are different types of keywords then the short-tail ones. For instance, the fresh keyword can be something that is recently released, trending, or in the news! Like If I search- ‘A quiet place 2’, I’ll get a lot of results as it just hit theatres and is still a fresh topic.

Short-term Fresh keywords: Used for fresh content

The search volume for such terms gets at its highest peak when the movie is released.

However, after some time, it drops sharply when the craze is gone. You can try to catch more organic traffic by targeting fresh keywords at the right time. But you should know that these SEO keyword types won’t have any traffic after the hype is over.

Features of short term fresh keywords

  • Medium competitive rate
  • Explosive search volume
  • High conversion rate
  • Specific search intent
  • Can be used in creating short-term up-to-date content

4. Long-term evergreen keyword

An evergreen keyword is the one that’s relevant all the time. Even if the search volume fluctuates, it won’t have a heavy impact on the daily traffic. It should be the primary keyword in most of your blogs to attract more visitors.

For instance, consider publishing a post about a topic that will still hold some value after two years. Some topics just never go out of hype, like- benefits of waking up early in the morning. People do wake up early in the morning now and will do the same even after years.

So, if they want to know about the benefits of waking up early, they can always search this and get to your blog. All you need to do is maintain your blog once a year to keep your information consistent and up-to-date. These types of keywords in SEO are best for blogs going for a long run!

5. Product defining keyword

Keywords that describe your product are known as the product-defining keyword. It’s something more specific than just a wide Niche. For instance, you can describe your product as a ‘regular keyword tool’ but a ‘keyword research and planning tool’ that is useful for a specific targeted audience only.

Also, the users looking for a product-defining keyword are usually at the early stage of purchasing. That means you need to talk about your product in as much detail as you can to help your users out. You just need to take a look at your product list and find out the relevant targeting keywords.

Features of a product defining keyword

  • Specific search intent
  • Low search volume
  • High conversion rate
  • Low, competitive rate
  • Can use it if you want to stand out from generic crowd

6. Customer defining keyword

It’s important to have a customized platform for your targeted audience. if you don’t have it yet, you must create an imaginary profile. You just need to find out about your audience, who they are, where they are from, and what’s their profession! The more factors you use to categorize people, the more accurate your target list will be.

Customized keywords for special audiences

For instance, consider this example, “keyword research and planning tool,” and compare it with “keyword research and planning tool for social media marketers.”

It would be difficult for social media marketers to find an appropriate keyword research tool by the first keyword. However, the second one is more precise and targets the tool specifically for social media marketers. If you define keywords according to your customers, you will get much better traffic.

Features of customer defining keyword

  • Low competition
  • Specific search intent
  • High conversion rate
  • Can address your customers directly with a blog specifically tailored for them

7. Geo-targeting keyword- used as best types of keywords in google ads

You can opt for geo-targeted keywords to target a specific state, city, country, or locality. This strategy works best for businesses to attract relevant and local customers. How to know your geo-targeted keywords? The area where your potential customers lie is, in fact, the geo-target keyword.

Target the customers of a specific town!

Even if you have mentioned the address on the sidebar, mentioning it right in the text makes a huge difference. This keyword is essential for local businesses to establish their local SEO.

Features- of Geo-Targeting Keywords

  • Low search volume
  • High conversion rate
  • Specific search intent
  • Low competition
  • Best for a delivery base business

8. LSI keywords – easiest to find among all keyword research types

LSI keywords are known as latent semantic indexing keywords and are closely related to your focus keyword. If your focus keyword is ‘lemon’, your LSI keywords could be ‘sour’, ‘vitamin c’, ‘nutrition’, etc.

You need to fix a target keyword before your search for LSI keywords. LSI keywords are just a bunch of related terms that can fit in the theme targeting all the relevant smaller branches of the focus keyword.

It helps to show your content when users search for similar terms other than just focus keywords. To get LSI keywords for your focus keyboard, you can look at the suggestions after searching your target keyword. This gives us an idea about the terms Google relates with for a particular search query. Just put in the focus keyword on a search to LSI keywords and make a suitable.

  • Helps rank the main keyword
  • Low competition
  • Low search volume
  • Helps building a content strategy with lots of keyword research types

9. Intent targeting keywords

Every time someone performs a search query, its intent falls into three categories.

If the user has not searched generic keywords but something specific, that simply means he is searching for a particular term. Make a creative blog that answers the user intent query in the information like “top 10”, “facts”, “guide on”, “ways to”, etc. These keywords carry an informational meaning to educate the reader. You can also begin the content with what, where, and how.

Other users with commercial intent are eager to make a purchase. You can use keywords like product descriptions, shipping fee expiration date specifications, or place of origin to give product-specific information. These types of keywords in digital marketing are best for a seller’s website.

Before the user places an order, always look for words like guaranteed, best quality, sale, discount, best price, etc. Make sure you use these types of keywords at the checkout to make your users feel comfortable with you.

Check out the long-term and short-term keywords you want to use in your article. Along with that, also check if the rest of the article has a structure with proper user intent. Other than this, you need to put them in meta descriptions, Alt text of images, subheadings, URL, content, link anchor text. Make sure this keyword fits in naturally and doesn't look stuffed. From top to bottom, they should be uniformly distributed rather than grouped at a particular spot.

  3. How many keywords are good for SEO?

Although there is no particular formula for calculating a suitable number of keywords in your article, it's best to begin with keywords. Incorporating five keywords with a monthly search volume of a hundred each is suitable for starting a small business.

Targeting just five keywords doesn't mean your site will only rank for those particular keywords; you can get traffic from many keywords that Google thinks are relevant. Most of the leaders have good morning habits for health and productivity-related reasons.

And to start, let us look at some common morning habits that we MUST get rid of. Simultaneously I will keep sharing Good Morning Habits also so that you can learn the ends of the spectrum.

7 Morning Habits that can make or break your day

Morning Don’ts #7 Hit snooze

Do you know how Virgin Group head Richard Branson starts his day?

By waking up at 5 am sharp.

He makes it a point to not dally on the bed- and you should follow his example too. We all have alarms on our phones- and the first thing we do when they wake us up is snooze it.

Avoid snoozing your alarm. One of the best morning habits for success.

Snoozing the alarm affects you both physically and mentally. It is one of the most frequently seen bad morning habits among adults.

  • Physically, you again go back to sleep- or at least doze- which can make you late.
  • Mentally- you are telling yourself that it is ok to delay stuff & break commitments. Before you know it, “Just 10 mins later” becomes “tomorrow”- and eventually- “never.”

Here’s a truth bomb- those precious 10 mins of extra sleep that you snatch after snoozing?
Well, they never make you feel fresh. 10 mins are not enough to complete a nap.

Instead, it puts you in a state of sleep inertia. You will spend the entire day feeling groggy & disoriented instead.

What should you do instead?

Wake up!

Get up, get going. Set your alarm for the right time and wake up when it rings. You will feel better.

7 Morning Habits That Can Break Your Day
7 Morning Habits That Can Break Your Day

Morning Don’ts #6 Check your phone or read newspapers right after you wake up

Well, you may be surprised to know that Warren Buffet is guilty of this. He starts the day by reading newspapers. But before you get inspired by him and start scrolling through your newsfeed- here is some sobering thought.

Research shows that your subconscious is most active during the first 20 mins of waking up.
So what you see or do in those 20 mins is going to leave a profound impact on your psyche for the rest of the day.

When we start checking our phones, we are more likely to come across news or updates that stress us out.

Social media addicts- this especially applies to you.

What should you do instead?

Think positive thoughts & Exercise!

Give yourself a pep talk and think about the positive aspects of life. Think of things that motivate you and affirm the commitments that lie ahead.

Instead of scrolling through your news feed, exercise or do yoga. Whatever be your preferred way of working outdo it. Exercising not only keeps you fit but also clears the mind. You will find yourself with more enthusiasm to take on the world.

Tony Robbins makes it a point to start by meditating and then exercising. Mark Zuckerberg exercises and showers right after waking up so that he has time for his family in the mornings.

They say that this helps them start the day with a clearer, calmer mind- which prevents stress and helps them take better decisions.”

Morning Don’ts #5 Laze around

Yes, there are so many things to do, and yes, you have the whole day ahead of you. It may feel tempting to just laze around and be idle in the mornings- but it is not a good thing to do.

Because when you are doing so, you are subconsciously telling yourself that it is okay to delay stuff and to take things easy. This sets you on a slippery slope for the rest of the day.

Not to mention, idling also makes your mind inactive and less alert. You get this sense of mental lethargy that follows you around.”

What should you do instead?

Accomplish some minor tasks. “To get your mind in the “on” mode, how about you start the day by accomplishing some simple tasks? Arianna Huffington, for example, answers emails in the morning so that her mind becomes alert.

You can start with something even simpler- making your bed. Admiral William McRaven of the US Navy once said, “If you want to change the world, start by making your bed.”

You will find that setting a small task for yourself in the morning and completing it gets you in the right frame of mind. Why?

Because it inculcates a sense of discipline.

It gives you that sense of pride that your first task for the day is complete.

You will find that making your bed not just puts your room in order but it also declutters your mind.

Morning Don’ts #4 Stay cooped up in your room

The bed always looks tempting when you wake up. Especially on chilly or winter mornings. However, it is important that you get out of your room and get some fresh air to bring your body fully awake.

If you just hang around in your bedroom or avoid getting some fresh air, you are giving your body and mind a subconscious signal that the day hasn’t started yet. This, in turn, will keep you feeling lethargic and groggy. Not to mention- it will make you want to put things off for longer.

Many of us have the habit of taking a hot shower in the morning.

Avoid it.

Of course, when it is cold outside, you should take a bath in lukewarm water. But those hot showers that you take will only end up making you feel lethargic.

Not to mention, hot showers may lead to problems for people who have low BP.

And if you are one of those who don’t take your bath in the morning- well, you are more likely to feel sluggish and groggy throughout the day.

What should you do instead?

Get some sun and get going “Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey gets his daily exercise in by walking 5 miles from his home to his office. This serves 2 purposes:

  1. He gets his workout
  2. He soaks up the morning sun.

The second point is something you should really prioritize. Pull your curtains back the moment you finish your bed. Sunlight has a significant impact on you.

  • Firstly, it kills germs and keeps your room fresh.
  • Second, studies show that the early morning light helps you stay alert throughout the day. So, soak in that morning sun. And the morning is the best time to get some sun. The later it gets, the harsher the light- and the greater is the damage done to your skin.
Not to mention, harsh sunlight also drains you and makes you feel fatigued.

Studies show that cold showers help you stay more alert.

They also energize the body.

Also, don’t take a bath just for the sake of it. Take your time. This is important for hygiene purposes, and feeling the water cleanse your body puts the mind in a positive place.

Make sure that you take care of your body’s needs before you leave the bathroom. When nature calls- go. Otherwise, you may spend your entire day feeling uncomfortable and out of sorts.

Morning Don’ts #3 Spend too much time getting ready

Don’t you feel annoyed when someone takes a lot of time getting prepared before you go out?

Well, guess what? The same applies to yourself.

In the morning, if you spend too much time deciding what to wear or searching for that one shirt you want to wear- you will only stress yourself out.

This sets the wrong tone for the day.

Not to mention, this leads to unnecessary delay. And to make up for this lost time, you tend to skip breakfast or rush through other things- which again leads to problems.”

What should you do instead?

Plan your outfit the night before” “Steve Jobs got this down pat because he always wore the same outfit. He developed a uniform of black turtlenecks. After him, Mark Zuckerberg has become famous for developing this simple work uniform which has become his signature look.

You must think why some of the most successful people choose to stick to a look? Well, it lets them avoid spending too much time in the morning. Developing a work uniform is great because it prevents you from stressing out in the morning.

Just pick what you want to wear the following day, and set it aside. Whatever field of work you have has a set criterion for dressing up so set some templates for your looks.

For example, if you are working in a corporate office, a full sleeve shirt in a light color and dark-colored pants can be a template. You can change the color of individual items but follow the same theme for more than one day in the week. You will find that wardrobe management, too, becomes much easier when you follow the formula.

Make sure to pack your bag in advance, too- so that you don’t miss out on anything.

Morning Don’ts #2 Skip breakfast

Oprah Winfrey never skips her breakfast- and attributes that to her wellbeing. And it’s not just a breakfast for the sake of it- she insists on having a nutritious breakfast.

She has science on her side on this.

A good breakfast ensures that you have the fuel to power through the rest of the day. Remember, your body has remained without food while you slept. In the mornings, you must replenish yourself.

Studies show that eating a good breakfast is good for your metabolism and also improves cognitive functions.

If you skip breakfast or just munch some snacks or food devoid of nutrition, you will find yourself feeling hungry throughout the day and will probably crave junk.

Not to mention- unhealthy eating habits come with a host of health complications.

What should you do instead?

Have a nutritious breakfast and drink water When you have a healthy meal, you are treating your body right. This means that you also have to hydrate yourself. Have plain water after you wake up rather than going for tea or coffee or any lemon water.

Morning Don’t #1 Leave everything unplanned

Don’t just wing it in the morning. Plan ahead. Not planning your commute or routine may lead to many untoward things.

Instead of knowing what to do, you will end up feeling flustered and just keep hopping through tasks aimlessly.

This may lead to delays and missed deadlines- and create other problems.

What should you do instead?

Plan your day ahead “Set a routine for yourself, and outline your tasks for the day beforehand. Not only does it help you stay organized- it gives you a sense of direction.

Creating to-dos for the day ahead is a great way to plan the day. This is something Arianna Huffington is known for. She says that she has todos set, and starts working on them right away- which ensures that her tasks get completed and her day goes as planned.

Advance planning also helps you with time management. You will find that you can organize your thoughts better and take the necessary actions.

Planning ahead helps you avoid nasty surprises- and you will find that your performance has improved substantially over time.

Just take 5 mins to note down your tasks for the day- you will find that your days will get better.

Do you want to create an excellent social media presence for your business?

Are you tired of reading through lengthy articles for helpful tips that will help you rope in those likes and views?

We know the pain. That is why we have done a round-up about what you should NOT do on social media.

Let’s get started right away. Here are a few things not to do on social media!

Social Media No-No #9: Wing it

Here’s the cardinal rule for a successful anything- PREPARE IN ADVANCE.

Avinash Chandra

Social media posts are no exception. Except for those times when you have to do something spontaneous, you MUST have a proper plan for posting.

How to ensure that?

It would help if you had a proper social media calendar for every month. This will help you cover special days and create content that is seasonally appropriate for your brand.

For example, for a brand like Cadbury, the time to go the extra mile for social media engagement is the days leading up to Valentine’s Day. The reason- chocolates sell the most during the season of romance.

So here is what you should do:

  • Decide beforehand what posts to put for what day of the week. Do this at least a month in advance.
  • Have your posts done at least a week prior. This makes sure that you don’t miss out on posting.
  • If you don’t plan, you will not see results. So ensure that you stay ahead of the curve- you can always add something spontaneous, but that should not become your default strategy.
What Not To Do on Social Media

Social Media NO-No #8: Try to sell all the time

Yes, if you have a product- you should promote it on your social media. Here’s the catch- if that is all you do- your target audience will drop off.

How annoyed do those hard-sell phone calls make you? If you are only pushing for sales on social media- you become that dreaded hard seller to your followers.

Even if you post about your products- you should try to engage rather than sell on social media. If you want some inspiration, check out the social media for Netflix. They do a great job of talking about their movies without asking you to pay up.

Social Media NO-No #7: Post sporadically

Look up any brand that you like on social media. They all post regularly.

You should do it too.

See, the moment you stop posting, you lose your traction on the platform.

Any handle that updates content on the regular is favored by the algorithms and gain momentum faster.

Not to mention- social media platforms have TONNES of brands that generate a tremendous amount of content every minute. Your audience will never lack something to look at, but YOU will lose out of your audience. It’s a classic case of “out of sight, out of mind.”

Social Media NO-No #6 Overthink your content

Social media is a place where you have to be consistent. If you dawdle too much over what to post, you will end up wasting time.

Think of the Twitter handle for Merriam Webster. The dictionary is an internet legend for its funny comebacks and witty posts. But do you see it post something epic every day?

Of course not. Most days, it posts about standard stuff. That’s because the brand knows that posting regularly is more important than hitting a 100 every day.

Great Example of What to do on Social Media

So don’t overthink it. Even if you commit a mistake or have a typo- it really doesn’t matter in the long run for your brand.

It doesn’t matter if your post today doesn’t make it to the internet hall of fame. There is always tomorrow. What is important is that you keep posting.

Social Media NO-No #5 Ignore comments & DMs

The primary aim of being on social media is to INTERACT with people. So when people DO interact with your brand- you should take the convo forward enthusiastically.

Check your comments and DMs. Is someone asking a question? Is there some good feedback there? Does someone have a suggestion? Or is someone simply saying they like you?

Engage with your audience. Answer them- it shows them that you care. You can look at brands like Wendy’s, which regularly converses with its audience- and even gives some sassy replies.

Social Media NO-No #4 Posting creatives and videos that look unfinished

The world has moved ahead in terms of technology. As a result, our expectations about media and technology have changed significantly.

If you are posting photos or videos- make sure they are professionally edited and look polished. Social media is a powerful PR tool, and you want to put your best foot forward for it.

Well done photos and videos create a good impression on your audiences and are more engaging.

Secondly, good quality visual content shows that your brand is well equipped technically. In the age of technology, it is a definite plus.

Yes, even the memes you want to use. Edit them carefully.

Social Media NO-No #3 Come across as fake

Make sure there is no disconnect between your brand’s personality and its social media messaging. Be authentic.

Imagine a brand like Microsoft. If today it starts to write its posts using gangsta rap words, it will feel incongruous. Similarly, if Bill Nye the Science Guy starts using sports jargon- it will have a pretty jarring effect.

Make sure your brand messaging is consistent. Don’t try to pretend to be something you are not. If you do, you will end up confusing your audience and putting them off.

Social Media NO-No #2 Never have CTAs

Yes, selling on social media is tricky. But you should have a clear CTA for every post that you make.

Let’s look at it this way- every post has a purpose. When you are posting something on social media, you want your audience to take some desired action. It may be something as simple as wanting them to subscribe to your channel.

If you want something from your audience, you have to prompt them to do it. Whether you want them to buy something, or click on the link or visit your website- you should always have a CTA.

Think of the popular YouTubers like That Guy With The Glasses or Yashraj Mukhate. Every post of theirs comes with a CTA. Their video descriptions will always ask you to follow, like, or share. You should do the same.

Social Media NO-No #1 Act like a billboard

After doing all that, here is the most important tip for you- INTERACT. Your social media handles are not static billboards- your job doesn’t stop after you put up a post.

You have to engage your audience actively. You have to find new ways to initiate conversation. How can you do it?

  • Go live from time to time
  • Conduct relevant polls
  • Ask them questions
  • Take questions from them and address them in your posts and videos
  • Post behind the scene stuff to give your audiences a chance to be participants in your brand’s story
  • Tag people
  • Conduct contests
  • Put up puzzles
  • Ask for their feedback
  • Give a shoutout to, share, and cross-promote other relevant social media handles and users.

The more you do this, the more activity you are likely to see. Start slowly- and with time, diversify your posts so that you can initiate more conversations.

Remember, social media is like a cycle. The more active you are, the more you will engage, and the more you engage with your audience, the more involved they will be- which will give you more ideas for staying active.

Many years ago, legendary investor Warren Buffett realized that he’d never make a lasting impact if he didn’t learn and apply this one skill effectively.

Today I am going to share how you can build public speaking skills that changed my and Warren Buffet’s life.

Learning and practicing this skill can make you an authority in your field, help improve your career, and even help build your business!

When practiced enough & done right, It will even make you rich and earn the respect of the world.

At the end of this blog, I am going to share with you a downloadable template with scripts and real-life examples of people who did it successfully. This will make it very easy for you to learn and practice this awesome skill.

How Warren Buffet Learned the art of Public speaking

As a young man, Warren Buffet was not the successful investor that we know him to be today. In fact, he was an introvert who was not keen on reaching out to other people.

However, he soon realized that to make a lasting impact in life, public speaking is one trait that he will have to master.

To hone his skills and make an impact, he then decided to sign-up for a Dale Carnegie public speaking course.

But when the day came, he did not show up.

Just like the rest of us.

However, some months later he again came across an advertisement for the very same course. So, he enrolled again.

But this time he paid in advance.

And he showed up.

What is public speaking?

Public speaking is an act of speaking face to face to a live audience with the objective to educate, entertain or influence. Public speaking is live to an audience. Both the speaker and audience are present during the interaction in person.

Benefits of public speaking

Public Speaking is the one skill that can change your life. I can confidently say it has changed mine!

Learning to hold attention and communicating effectively will make you a better leader. Your public speaking skills will not only improve your confidence but will also help you build authority in your business or career.

What is public speaking skills?

Public speaking skills refer to the ability of an individual to effectively address an audience in person. Public speaking skills come in handy when you are speaking in front of a group of people.

An individual’s ability to educate, entertain or influence an audience to meet certain objectives successfully is called public speaking skills.

How to develop self-confidence and improve public speaking skills

So without wasting any time I am now going to tell you the 6 action steps you can take to improve your public speaking skills.

Step #1 Write something EVERY DAY!

Tim Ferris is a New York Times bestselling author who interviews successful people who have made a mark in their respective fields. When asked which was the most common habit of successful people, Tim replied that 80% of his guests practiced journaling their thoughts and ideas in some form or the other.

Writing down your thoughts, ideas, and even fears every day is a very helpful practice.

When the time comes to express your thoughts verbally and publicly you will be surprised by the clarity and confidence this exercise will give you.

To inculcate the habit of journaling, you can start by writing your everyday thoughts and ideas in a diary or notebook.

And once you feel confident at expressing your thoughts, try engaging on conversational social media platforms such as Twitter, Linked In, and even Facebook groups.

Step #2: Learn from the LEADERS & the LOSERS.

First and foremost you need to know what good communication looks like. Watching speeches online is a great way to learn public speaking with effective communication. Ted Talks are a great place to start.

Remember when you do your research that there are excellent and mediocre people in every field.

Seek out both.

Learn from the excellent speakers what to include in your own scripts. And learn from the worst what blunders to avoid. This is called inverted thinking. Looking at the worst possible outcome can actually help you avoid it.

Now If you are too busy to research or want to avoid wasting your time looking at every tom, dick, and harry’s video in the sea of youtube videos out there then I have a gift for you.
I have done the research for you and have made a list of the excellent and the horrible speakers and put in the names and the links in a sheet. And I am going to give you this sheet which is going to save loads of your time. So watch this video to the end. Ok?

Now when you see these speakers deliver, listen to them and make notes.

Components of a Speach

Try to analyze the impactful speeches. You can learn what works and what does not work.

Every speech has an introduction, a body, and a conclusion.

And here is what you should look out for IN THE INTRODUCTION:

1. How did the speaker grab the attention of the room?
2. Did they start with a relevant question that the audience identified with?
3. Or did they lead with a personal story?
4. Or maybe they kicked off the speech with a factual shocking statement?

Body of the Speech

And now, here is what you should look out for IN THE BODY OF THE SPEECH

1. How did they present their opinion?
2. Did they simplify his arguments?
3. Did they use personal stories to make a connection with the audience?
4. How often did they pause midway? Why did they do that?
5. Did they use any visual aid to convince the listeners?
6. How often did they use metaphors, analogies, and symbolism to add clarity and simplify complex thoughts and ideas?

The conclusion of the speech

And finally here is what you should look out for IN THE CONCLUSION OF THE SPEECH

1. Was their conclusion clear, concise, & memorable?
2. Did they connect it back to something in the introduction or simply drive home the main point of their presentation?
3. Did they include any call-to-action and did it inspire you to take action?

Body language in public speaking

Observe the speaker’s non-verbal or body language as well. Here are some things you should pay attention to:

  1. Eye Contact
  2. Posture
  3. What do they do with their hands during the speech?
  4. If they made a mistake, how did they recover from it?
  5. What kind of clothes did they wear?

Some speakers seem naturally talented. However, no matter how easy it looks, they have no doubt put in hours of practice into their talks.

And you, my friend, will need to do the same.

Step #3: Observe successful communicators around you

Watching established leaders & speakers is good. But at the end of the day, we will need to apply what we learn in our daily life with our peers and colleagues.

We are not looking to give speeches to them but we want to learn and practice being more effective communicators.

Is there a person who is friendly with everyone?

Someone who is an absolute favorite of the bosses and colleagues alike? Someone, you want to be like? If yes, then observe them.

See how they approach people and how they approach a topic.

  1. Observe if their body language is open and welcoming. Do they smile often?
  2. How do they grab attention and converse in a group?
  3. Notice their confidence and way of standing. A confident posture can impact how people see you and perceive you.
  4. How do they excuse themselves from conversations?
  5. How do they communicate when they are annoyed or upset? Do they raise their voice to dominate the conversation? Or do they remain calm?

Study the confident communicators around you. Pay attention to how they navigate complex situations and the words they use to explain complicated ideas.

Step #4: Record Yourself Speak

Enough learning! We have now reached the action-taking stage.

It’s time to make your first speech to the camera and record it.

You can try answering questions. Refer to the topics or questions you wrote in your journal in the very first step.

But let me warn you, the first time you might need to take even 50 retakes.

However, don’t give up just yet. Once you complete the first recording, it just gets easier and easier from there.

I promise.

Doing this regularly on a daily basis will soon skyrocket your confidence and put you on the path to being a spellbinding speaker.

Step #5: Start Outreach

Reach out to 1 new person every week.

Suresh Venkateshwaran, my boss in my former marketing manager life, once told me that the fastest way to get what you want is by getting to know the people who are doing what you want to do.

Recently I reached out to David Aaker the God Of branding for MBA students and was really ecstatic to get a reply from him especially among so many others I am now in touch with.

Putting yourself in front of other people will help you become good at the following things.

  1. It will force you to do your homework and prepare an interesting introduction.
  2. You will become a better listener.
  3. You will be ready and comfortable to talk about your own values, experiences, and future plans.
  4. Your written communication will improve.
  5. You will successfully learn outreach communication & networking

Now the chances are that the people you get in touch with are very cautious of who they reply to. So this exercise will force you to get your outreach message right.

Linkedin is a great platform to start your outreach efforts. The platform will limit your message to 300 words for any new connections you make. This will force you to become precise and make every word count.

Step #6: Teach To A Group

Volunteer to teach whenever you can.

Teaching other people anything will make you an authority in that subject and give you the confidence to speak publicly about it.

I have taught everything from digital marketing, SEO to online advertising to new joiners, and experienced the learning journey of team members of my now 6-year-old digital firm.

Even today, I take out 3-4 hours every week to mentor team members.

I even teach my clients the basics of advanced strategies in branding, advertising, sales and distribution, and more.

Here’s what you get if you teach others:

  1. You become an authority in your subject
  2. You develop the confidence to speak anywhere to any number of people about it.
  3. Learn to create engaging lesson plans
  4. Become an excellent communicator and speaker.

Look for ways to teach around yourself. Maybe in your community or even at your workplace, where you can offer to mentor new joiners.

If you look around, most successful people you know will be excellent communicators. Unless of course, you are a tech genius!

But for the rest of us, we need to build authority and effective communication skills for life.

So implement these 6 action steps and become an effective communicator and a spellbinding public speaker.

Now let me come back to the promise I made at the beginning of this video.

  3. How to be confident in public speaking?

To communicate your message effectively to an audience, you need to exude confidence. Here are a few tips to ensure that you appear confident during public speaking.

1 Maintain eye contact with the audience:

    3 Use the stage:
The best of public speakers move around the stage. They use the space provided to them and own it. Standing at one place and narrating a speech is not the best practice for public speaking. However, if you are given a podium, then standing at it is imperative.

    4 Facial Expressions:
Your body and face is your weapon when influencing people on a stage. To command the room, you need to use all the arsenal available in your armory. Your facial expressions must match with what you are saying. Adding a bit of dramatics will only help your cause.

    5 Voice Modulation:
Narrating your point of view in a monotone will just bore the audience and make them unreceptive. Use voice modulation to engage the audience with your message. Try to keep the same volume of voice at the beginning and end of sentences. Do not allow the message to be lost with a shallow and timid voice. Instead, command the room with a strong voice and engage them with timely modulations.

    2 Play to your strengths:
Record yourself while giving the speech and even during the practices. By observing yourself, you will identify where your strengths and weaknesses lie. It is crucial that you play to your strengths and work on your weaknesses as a public speaker. For instance, if you have good comic timing – try to include small funny stories in your speech to captivate the audience.

    3 Use props wisely:
Props like a PowerPoint presentation, audio clip, or audiovisual clips go a long way in explaining the speakers' point of view. However, excessive use of these props makes the audience less engaged and can make them feel disconnected. Smart and sparse usage of props can help you put forward your point more efficiently and make you a better public speaker.

  10. How to speak in public?

There is no denying the fact that speaking in public is a tricky affair. The challenging task of public speaking can be won over by following these simple but effective tricks.

1 Have in-depth knowledge of the topic you are preparing to speak on. Cover all perspectives and sides of the topic for good objection handling.

2 Practice your speech several times. Practicing in front of a mirror or a camera and a group of friends will help you enhance your public speaking skills.

4 Do not shy away from eye contact. Limit your eye contact with one person to 5 seconds max. Use the stage and move around so that the audience on every side of the stage must feel included & addressed in your speech.

5 Being authentic is important. The new digital age is more about authenticity than propaganda and images. Bring your authentic self on the stage and stay true to your personality.

These simple and actionable steps will help enhance your skills as a public speaker.

  11. How to develop public speaking skills?

To master the art of public speaking, you must ace the 3 Ps of public speaking. The 3Ps of public speaking are – Prepare, Practice and Perform.

    1 Prepare:
Having a sound plan and preparation is crucial to deliver fluently in front of an audience. Your practice and notes should include your main idea, flow, and other tools and props that you intend to employ. Dive deep in research and understand the topic in and out. The greater your understanding of the topic, the better will be your speech.

    2 Practice:
Once you are all set with the flow of your speech, go over your notes over and over again. Practice your address in front of the mirror. Once you get the hang of the material, try recording yourself when you speak. Recording your speech will lend you insights into your body language and facial expressions. After making corrections after recordings, take your speech to your friends and peers and do a dry run. Take their feedback and perfect all aspects of your speech.

    3 Perform:
By now, you know your material and have practiced it well. It is time to shed the fear and walk on the stage with confidence. Command the room by maintaining a small eye connection with most people in the audience. Keep an open body language, play to your strengths and use the stage to the fullest.

  12. What causes fear of public speaking?

Fear of public speaking is called Glossophobia.

Glossophobia roots in past experiences or the fear of being judged or embarrassed in front of a large audience. Fear of public speaking often stems from fear of rejection as well. As students, if you faced rejection or had a bad experience at public speaking – the chances are that you are scared of public speaking.

Most people face Glossophobia when asked to speak on the spot without preparation. The fear also arises when you overestimate the stakes of public speaking and expressing your ideas with people.

The best way to win over the fear of public speaking is practice. Don't back down from public speaking, and take up every opportunity to stand up and voice your thoughts. Being upfront and facing the situation head-on will help you win over your fear of Glossophobia.

  13. How to become more confident in public speaking?

The best of speakers feel their nerves trembling right before taking the stage and giving a speech. It's less about how to become more confident and more about how to exude confidence. Looking confident and delivering a flawless speech should be the target.
Here are a few tips that you can follow to look confident and give a flawless speech:

1 Be extremely well prepared. It's crucial that you have a deep understanding of the subject.

2 Keep a clear thought process. Make notes of what you want to present and cover all the points you want to touch.

3 Imagine a positive scenario. Place yourself in the situation you are going to be in and only bring positive thoughts to mind.

4 Master control breathing so that you do not mumble your words. Make your speech clear and easy to understand.

5 Speak at a pace that is easy to understand. Speaking fast will not serve the audience well. Enunciate each word with precision and control. Mumbling is never a good idea.

6 Always be in control of your body language. Maintain eye contact with the audience. Give all the members of the audience attention. Use the stage and establish authority.

  14. How to gain confidence in public speaking?

Confidence in public speaking cannot be gained overnight. You will have to tirelessly work towards becoming a good orator. The shortcut way of becoming confident is by gaining appreciation.

1 You will be highly appreciated if you give speeches that make an impact. Here are a few tips to make an effective speech and win a round of applause:

2 Make your speech interactive. Address your audience by maintaining steady eye contact. Ask them questions and make them feel involved.

3 Use stories and examples which resonate with your target audience. Giving reference to the 70s show wouldn't go well with gen z. Find a pop culture reference that will crack up your audience.

4 Tell short stories during the speech. Stories are a great way of making yourself likable.
Starting your speech with a strange fact or a question is smart. It intrigues the audience and keeps them engaged.

5 Keep a positive outlook and smile. Smiling will tell your mind that you are happy. It will help turn the anxiety into excitement.

6 Strike a power pose before entering the room. A power pose is where you take up space and hold your hands and legs away from yourself. It makes your mind confident and relaxes the body too.

  15. How to get into public speaking?

The skill of public speaking should preferably be introduced from early childhood.

Participating in debates, declamations, recitation competitions prepares children for public speaking. It also facilitates in eradicating the fear of stage.

Though, if you are an adult looking to develop public speaking skills – you must start small.

1 Speak in family functions. A family function setting allows you to speak in front of an audience without the fear of getting judged or embarrassed.

2 Try teaching a small group of students in any field that you excel at. Teaching small groups will help you interact with an audience from a position of power. It will also mean you will have to prepare interactive and fun sessions to keep the students engaged.

3 Interact with people in gatherings. Speaking up and sharing your ideas among friend groups boosts your confidence. It will also give you a sense that you are commanding the room. People with such attributes are often liked by all too. This will give you an opportunity to build interpersonal relationships.

4 Take up the opportunity to give presentations in your workplace. GIving presentations and presenting ideas will further prepare you to become a good public speaker.

  16. How to overcome stage fright and fear of public speaking?

Stage fright and Glossophobia combined can wreak havoc for someone who is trying to inculcate the skill of public speaking. Here are a few helpful tips and tricks :

1 Focus on the contribution you will make by giving the speech. If you think about your fear and negative scenarios, the chances of a mishap are more.

2 Shift your focus to calming and reassuring situations. Fill your mind with positive thoughts and experiences.

3 Practice ways to calm your nerves. Device ways that best suit you. You might be a meditation person or a yoga person, or a deep breathing person. Find the practice that suits you the best and act upon it before the speech.

4 Try to limit your alcohol and coffee consumption before the big speech. Consumption of these drinks can make you jittery.

5 Be natural while giving a speech. Don't try to be someone else. Being authentic is appreciated. Trying to be someone else will only deter your confidence and make way for follies.

  17. How to speak in front of the public?

Every speaker has an individual approach when it comes to public speaking. However, there are a few things that all speakers follow, and you can try too to boost your confidence.

    1 Be Authentic:
Being real and authentic is what gets you a round of applause. If you are nervous, tell the audience that it is your first time and you are super nervous. In situations like these, the audiences connect with you better and try to make the speech a whopping success for you.

    2 Befriend your Audience:
Your audience is not your enemy. They are there to support you and listen to you. Considering your audience-friendly will help you speak freely. Even though your audience is filled with strange and new faces, considering them your allies will only improve your performance.

3 Visual aids to the rescue:
Humans are visual animals. We enjoy props that we can see. Using a presentation, audiovisual clip, or just props to make your point will give you some breathing space. It will also engage the audience and make your speech a power packer.

    4 Solid Contingency Plans:
In a live situation where you are relying on electronic devices – you must have a fail-safe. Make a contingency plan! This will ensure that if the situation goes sideways, you as a speaker will still thrive.

    5 Personalize your script:
If you go on stage and dump facts, people will easily get bored and distracted. It is recommended that you use anecdotes and short stories to personalize the script and connect better with the audience.

  18. How to start public speaking?

Every task is best performed with practice. If you want to become a public speaker, you must practice and start small. Start taking up every opportunity which forces you to speak to an audience. The opportunity can be as small as speaking to a group of friends or sharing ideas with a group of colleagues. Grabbing such opportunities will help you reach the point where you will be able to command a whole stadium.

  19. What are the 7 elements of public speaking?

The seven elements of public speaking are:

    1 The speaker:
Speaker is the one talking during a public speaking event. The stage wouldn't be set without the speaker.

    2 The message:
Message is the information presented by the speaker in his speech. The message is judged on three basic attributes – content, style, and structure.

    3 The audience or receiver:
The speaker must always gauge his audience. The speaker must have some details about the demographic he is speaking to. Knowing your audience will help in crafting content that is easily perceived by the audience.

    4 The channel:
When the speaker is talking on stage, audiences listen to things more than mere words. The audience observes the non-verbal and visual channels as well. The audiences notice if you pay attention to all members of the audience or are focused on a few. They notice if you are making eye contact or not. Audiences observe your confidence level. Avoid fidgeting, and focus on your content.

    5 Feedback:
Feedback is the most important part of public speaking. It may come in the format of people asking questions, clapping when there's a gap, laughing at a joke, or even yawning while you speak. It is essential you pick up these clues and tweak your content to the audience's interest.

    6 Noise:
Noise can be any kind of interruption or discomfort that you face as a speaker. Noise can range from poor acoustics, bad ventilation, unwarranted temperature, or visual obstruction between the speaker and audience. Noise can be internal as well. It can be your discomfort, need to run away, or your internal critic giving you a hard time.

    7 The situation or place:
The situation or place of the speech is one of the most important parts of the elements of speech. It can be a deciding factor in your success. It's recommended to visit the place of the speech beforehand. Visiting and coordinating the situation, i.e., the lighting, temperature, and seats, can immensely boost your confidence.

  20. What is the art of public speaking called?

The art of public speaking is also called oratorship or oratory. Though public speaking is often considered an art, it really is a skill. A skill that can be acquired, learned, practiced, and perfected over time. If you want to develop the skill of oratorship and want to speak fluently in front of large audiences, here are a few helpful tips:

Always prepare your ideas well. Don't save time on research and be well prepared with subject matter and notes.

Find an angle that you resonate with. If you speak on a subject or angle you do not feel strongly about; your speech will look bland and without an authentic point of view.

Instead of drawing out a speech, make a structure. Follow the structure, and don't miss out on touching all the points you want to address.

Practice your speech multiple times to ensure a perfect flow.

Use props to make your presentation more interactive and engaging.

  21. What not to do when public speaking?

Glossophobia – fear of public speaking – is common in people around the globe. Here are a few things you should avoid while speaking to audiences:

    1 Not creating audience-oriented content:
When you are public speaking, it's crucial to remember that the message is for the audience. The speech you are presenting should use the words and references your audience is accustomed to. Every target group has a different set of language, vocabulary, and slang they are used to – using the same will communicate your idea better. It will even make the audience comfortable and more perceptive.

    2 Keeping low energy:
Maintaining low energy while speaking is the biggest no-no! You must speak with energy and enthusiasm. Even though the topic is serious or morose, your tone should exude passion. If you do not feel strongly about the topic, your audience will easily get bored. From your tone, it should be loud and clear that you care about the topic.

    3 Data Dumping:
If you have researched your topic well, you will have a lot of data to share with your audience. However, it's up to you how much data you want to give out. Mix the data with your insights. If you spit statistics, the audience will lose interest easily. Secondly, if you could find data, so can the audience. They are listening to you because they want to know what insights you have drawn from the said data. So, don't fret and share your inferences openly with your listeners.

How to start your Social Media Journey: Planning & Execution Steps to Successful Social Media Marketing

For every business – small or large and even individuals, presence on social media is important and critical for long-term success.

You can use social media platforms to spread your brand value proposition. Social media can truly help you build your brand and business.

So, if you are planning to start your social media journey, here is what you can do:

Public Speaking: The One Skill Warren Buffet Recommends you to Posses

Step 1: Clarify your social media goals

Based on your business and marketing objectives, you can clarify your social media goals. Social media presence can help you build your brand awareness, increase traffic to your website or store, drive sales and even enhance your employability. So choose wisely. Do not commit the mistake of choosing everything. Otherwise, you will achieve nothing.

Step 2: Choose the type of content that can help you achieve your goals

Now that you have your goals clear, it’s time to choose the type of content that you will be posting on social media platforms. Content can be varying or a mixture of whatever you feel speaks to your target audience and resonates with your brand.

You can post about yourself, your blogs, product information, your brand values, your strengths and so much more.

To ensure what suits you the best, sit down with a pen and paper and let your ideas flow.

Step 3: Cerebrate your content buckets

Once you have identified your goals and the kind of posts you want to create, it’s time to strategize your content. When you streamline your content with your goals, you would identify that a pattern emerges. This pattern will help you identify your needs and categorize the content. Make content buckets or content categories based on these patterns.

Step 4: Choose your priority social media platforms based on your skills and your target audience

The next crucial step is to identify which platform suits your goals the best. If you offer HR solutions or run a B2B business, LinkedIn is your best bet. If you sell products and have a business that sells visually appealing products, Instagram and Pinterest are the way to go. If you are into the tech business – adopt Twitter.

Secondly, you need to consider what is more convenient for you?

If you are planning to be on Instagram but written content best suits you, then sorry but that is not a good match! Opt for a platform based on your convenience and your target audience presence.

The easiest way to select the social media of your choice is to identify where your audiences spend their time. If you offer services to youngsters, Instagram, TikTok are popular platforms. However, your efforts will topple if you are active on Instagram and TikTok and your TG is 40+. Analyze your target audiences and platforms they are most active on.

Step 5: Choose your Brand Voice and Social Media Style

By now, you have many aspects figured out. These aspects will help you determine your voice. If your TG is young and Hip, slang and new words will help you connect with them. If your TG is elderly, choosing a serious and informative tone will please them. So pick your tone based on your TG and the platform you will be posting on. Do not forget that your tone must resonate with your brand identity as well!

Step 6: Be conscious of the Platform Algorithm

Now that you are all set to post – set realistic goals for yourself. Platforms promote content based on their algorithms. To gain a following on Instagram, you must post at least twice a day. Facebook will promote your content if it’s in long-form and helps the reader stay on Facebook for long. Trending on LinkedIn is easy with just 3-4 posts in a week. So create content based on platforms’ algorithms and your capabilities.

Step 7: Create a social media plan

To stay atop all your social media posts, create a plan and stick to it. Make a document and write down all your findings and plans. This will help you and your team to follow the plan and reap the best benefits.

Step 8: Create Original Content. Be Authentic. Speak your Mind

The last thing to keep in mind is to always stay authentic. Authenticity is all the rage these days, hence the birth of influencer marketing. The new generation “likes to keep it real”. Authentic and first-hand content will help you gauge more audience.

Step 9: Communicate and Engage with users

The best aspect of social media is that it gives real-time feedback. You will receive suggestions, compliments, complaints, reviews, and much more. You should engage with your audience. Appreciate their interaction and try to resolve their issues, if they present you with a problem. Being interactive helps increase engagement and builds a positive brand image.

Step 10: Communicate your opinion of trending topics

Plan ahead with your social media posts. But still, keep in slots for the latest trends. Platforms like Instagram promote your content if you are using their latest features and indulging in new trends. If you see a trend that resonates with your brand, jump the wagon and grab the opportunity!

As we know, search engines like Google, Bing sends crawlers all over the internet to go through websites. When spiders visit a website containing thousands of web pages, they can’t go through every webpage. A sitemap helps Google bots identify web pages that you think are important to scan these web pages intelligently.

Why do we need a sitemap

A website contains different types of information on its web pages. Different kinds of sitemaps help crawlers to read this information efficiently.

Here is a deep dive into the different types of sitemaps you should look into.

XML Sitemap

An XML sitemap is a specific format to encode information on the website. This format makes it easy for search engines to read the information on your websites.

If you have a large website containing thousands of pages, it’s essential to know which of these pages are crucial. The important URLs should be the pages which Google bots should crawl as Google only allows the scanning of a limited number of pages on a website. XML sitemaps help crawlers identify these web pages.

Apart from a list of URLs, sitemap XML also contains additional information such as how frequently the web page’s content is updated and more such information. This tells Google’s website bots to crawl a particular page more often as it contains updated content.

Visual sitemap

Creating a visual sitemap is the first step of website development. It’s a blueprint of the structure of the website. It provides you with a clear understanding of the organization of content and guides you through the website’s navigation options.

What is Sitemap XML role in SEO?

Search engines’ primary function is to display the most relevant results for the search query. They use crawlers to identify, organize, and index information on the internet. XML Sitemaps make it easier for these bots to read the content of the website.

Sitemaps promotes a better way of handling and organizing URLs. It is more necessary to have a sitemap for your website in some situations. For example, if you have a website with thousands of web pages and a large number of external links. This situation is ideal for using a sitemap as compared to a website containing only a handful of web pages and few external links.

As a single website can contain multiple sitemaps, it is easier to handle different website sections individually because of it.

So, do all websites need to create an XML sitemap?

The honest answer is, not really.

Criteria where XML Sitemap is a must

But, definitely go for proper sitemaps if your website meets the following criteria:

  • Large website – If you own a website with many web pages, then there is a high possibility that Google web crawlers will miss out on scanning some essential web pages. A sitemap will help you in this department as it will help crawlers identify important URLs of your website.
  • Isolated web pages – Web pages that are not linked to each other in a website are a matter of concern if you want Google bots to crawl your website. Because the web pages are not interlinked, crawlers don’t have the resources to look through each of the website’s web pages. Sitemap helps ensure that crawlers don’t overlook some of the essential pages on the website.
  • New website with few external links – Google favors quality external links because it shows that the website has reliable and updated content. Google spiders usually crawl web pages by following links from one page to another page. If you don’t have any external links, then the bots’ ability to visit your page is restricted.
  • Rich media content- Media sitemap or video and image sitemap helps Google understand where media content is located on the website. It also helps websites appear in Google’s video and image search results.

In a real sense:

Digital Marketing is brand messaging (Advertisements) delivered through electronic channels such as Television, Radio, Internet etc. Electronic channels generate, store and transmit data in the series of the number 0 or 1.

Therefore, Digital Marketing can happen both Online and Offline.

If the above is true, then

Digital marketing existed ever since Guglielmo Marconi sent first wireless signals in 1896.

Isn’t that crazy!

However, the simple definition of digital marketing does not say enough about the practice of digital marketing in today’s world.

This meaning is useless as technology is just the enabler of digital marketing.  So let us understand what exactly digital marketing is?

Here’s why you need to adopt digital as part of your overall marketing strategy:

1. The digital landscape is going to be much larger in future:

  • More than 50% of the global population (3.8 Billion out of 7.5 Billion) is already on the Internet.
  • More than 68% of the connected audience (2.5 Billion out of 3.8 Billion) is already an active social media user on the mobile.
  • In India, its 35% population (462 million out of 1.3 Billion) is already on the Internet.

3. Digital Marketing is measurable in real time

Apart from the above, please note that digital marketing is measurable in real time. This measurability allows a marketer to make changes and enhancements in the marketing approach and drive enhanced ROI for the business.

For example, if you have created TV advertisements, you will not know the results until the people-meter report is available from media monitoring services. Even if the data is available, you can not surely say that it was the advertisement that led to increase in sales.

However, if you are on digital, you will have the result of every marketing effort you make online almost instantly. You will be able to identify what is working for you and what is not.

4. Generates Real Business Leads

Businesses generate a significant number of leads on a daily basis. Most of the sales people always struggle with segmenting qualified or fake leads as one does not have any mechanism to differentiate the same.

However, when you generate leads on a digital platform, you can put your leads in a specific stage of the purchasing funnel. This kind of segmentation can enable sales to focus on advanced leads and generate better ROI for the business.

5. Helps you Connect the Dots

As a marketer, you have many marketing tools available to promote your business. It is a universal truth that there are always more opportunities for investing your money than what is available in your marketing budget. So how do you prioritise?

Most of my clients have this dilemma. Well, this is where digital allows you to identify what is working and what is not. As a marketing professional, you can detect and invest your resources accordingly.

Digital allows you to identify what is working and what is not.

With the attribution modelling, you can determine the steps a consumer take to buy your product & service and invest in the most important measures.

From the above, it is must be clear to you that digital marketing can create tremendous value for your business. It is an interactive medium, which can take several forms. So let us understand what the different forms or components of digital marketing are.

What is Digital Marketing Strategy

Digital marketing strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a long term marketing and business objectives online (with the usage of internet and telecommunication networks).

A good digital marketing strategy organizes all the components of digital marketing in such a way that the components support each other to achieve the desired strategic outcome.

A good digital marketing strategy helps achieve marketing and business goals. From the digital marketing perspective below are the three modified goals a business can have:

Engage with Prospective Customers

  • Reach out to new potential customers and build traffic to digital properties
  • Increase overall brand awareness, Top of mind recall leading to increased engagement online
  • Generate Sales
    • Generate Leads for the Business
    • Supports trial of a good or service and aid in information dissemination
    • Increase sales
  • Generate Referral
    • Positive word of mouth and recommendation leading to greater profit for the firm with repeat or incremental sales
    • Delight a customer by resolving their service issues
  • Have you noticed that the digital marketing objectives are all action oriented? A digital marketing objective is not fulfilled if it does not motivates a customer to take action. Unlike traditional advertising where a brand expects just

As part of traditional marketing strategy, a brand expects just one action from the customer that is sales. However, in the digital marketing world, a brand expects achievement of several micro-objectives before a customer pays (which is the macro objective or the final goal really).

But remember, trying to get all as a result of one digital marketing campaign is a recipe for disaster.

Focus on the biggest challenge your business is facing and make its resolution as the primary objective of your digital marketing strategy and others could be your secondary business priorities.

Brand Website: The most important pillar of Digital Marketing Strategy

    You might be wondering:

Why the hell I am talking about a website here.

When you hear about digital marketing the first thing which comes to your mind in Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram . . . . . . . . . whichever is the current flavour of the month when it comes to social media.  Most of us also think that when we talk about digital marketing, we are talking about these platforms. Therefore we believe that we need to have a presence on these platforms.

What we forget is that all these platforms are a business and they decide the rules of the game. They pay attention to their website or mobile app and try to portray that if you are not there on their platform, you are nobody. What if they become irrelevant tomorrow.

Remember Orkut? Nobody does. Not surprising if you don’t.

Advertising on these platforms is not like TV advertising which leads to increase in brand awareness / Top of mind recall. Where in once your prospective customer is aware of your offering, distribution and retail promotion will lead to sales.

The traditional advertising model does not work in digital.

If you advertise on digital platforms like Google, Facebook and Twitter to build just the Brand awareness you are creating a captive audience for your competitor’s brands to tap into. Your competitors will target all your audience based on behavioral methods.

Therefore TV like brand awareness campaigns does not work well for a brand on digital media. You need to do much more to get the sales and ROI for your business.

This is where your website comes into the picture. Your website should be your leading Digital Marketing Pillar as has the following benefits over other digital channels.

    • Control: You have absolute control over your website, and you set the rules of the same on it.
    • Priorities: You can decide what will be the focus of your marketing strategy.
    • Messaging: Your customer get to hear the authentic voice of the brand
    • Connect: Your consumer can connect and talk to you directly. You have an unparalleled opportunity to delight the customer.
    • Segmentation: You will be able to segment your customer on the basis of his stage in the buying process and act accordingly.

Brand Website Vision: to meet the Objectives of Digital Marketing

To be successful, a brand needs to convert its website into a Digital Brand Commerce platform. This platform needs to inspire consumers to engage with the brand and help in co-creation. A Brand website is essentially a community of believers with a purpose.
